Upgrade from GTX 980 to 1070

So looking at a possible GPU upgrade here, I mainly play Battlefield 1 and over watch, with some heavily modded fallout regularly as well. The 980 served me well with my old 60hz monitor. But with 144hz, especially on BF1, I feel like the 1070 would bump me up to that perfect fps range. So my question is, is the 1070 a sensible upgrade or somewhat pointless?

From the research I've done the 1070 is running neck and neck with the 980ti, maybe a bit faster than the 980ti. With that in mind, would you upgrade from the 980 to the 980ti? I probably wouldn't. I would set a custom fan curve and overclock the 980 and live with it until the 11xx series comes out.

It is worth the upgrade. The 1070, overall, performs 33% better than the GTX 980 so you'll probably see a pretty big difference.

Going from 980 to 1070, I would says yes about +/- 30% better, going from 980ti to 1070 I would say save money and get 1080ti next year.
