Upgrade from i5 2500k stock to i7 6700k?

Hi there

I'm seriously considering upgrade my system from sandy bridge to skylake.

Current specs are as follows:
i5 2500k (stock)
Corsair H80 GT (stock cooler broke)
8GB DDR3 ram
Foxcon z77a motherboard (can't overclock on it)
GPU: Sappire Fury
PSU: Corsair CX600M
SSD, HDD


I'm looking at upgrading to the i7 6700k which means I'll have to fork out on a new motherboard and ram too - I can keep the cooler it's quite good even though a little loud.

I mostly do gaming but I'm thinking if my CPU is stock, and I can't overclock on that motherboard and I can't get a new motherboard for that CPU - should I just go all out and change the CPU/mobo/RAM?

Will I get some good FPS increases?

1) If you can afford it then yes, upgrade to Skylake. Here's a great article on the benefits:

2) Yes, you will notice a potenital FPS increase. If you are playing on displays larger than 1080p and running recent games a 6700k Skylake build will produce very noticible improvements over your current setup.

Yes I forgot to mention that I do have a 4k monitor - it's the LG27mu67 freesync 4k 60htz

If I can see around a 15-20 fps jump on something like Battlefront that would be so good I would be wetting my pants when I'm strangling those silly rebels as the darth himself
