Upgrade from i5-2520M to i7-2760QM

Hello, I have a friend who wants to upgrade his laptop, the Dell Latitude E6420. The current CPU of the laptop is i5-2520M (which is a dual core). He would like to upgrade his CPU to the i7-2760M, and I'm not sure if it's compatible with his laptop.

I performed this exact upgrade on my Lenovo Y570 laptop some while ago, the processor will indeed be compatible.

There are two types of sockets for Sandy Bridge mobile cpus, one is LGA and one is BGA (ball grid array).

BGA doesn't' have a upgrade path because the cpu is soldered to the board.
LGA, while not as good as BGA has an upgrade path.

If you can figure out which one you have then that will be your answer.
