I have an i5 6400 cpu with a gtx 1060 6gb and i was thinking if it is worth upgrade to an i5 7500 (for gaming), because i know the 6400 its very bad for the price and i didn´t know that when i bought it, i can only upgrade to the 7400 or 7500, the 7600 is too expensive for me.

Sorry for the bad English, i´m from Argentina.

I don't think it's worth it. It would be hard to recommend moving from any i5 to another i5 within the same generation or just one generation apart, it's just too similar. If looking to upgrade consider at least an i7 to make it worthwhile. Otherwise it will be a wasted investment in my opinion.
GTX 1060 is a pretty expensive card for a base machine. I'm sure you will get a little better FPS or performance by increasing the CPU capability(not as much though as the GPU). There are other limitations like Ram(and the type of RAM) Harddrive and the type of HardDrive. If I was a huge FPS Gamer I would probably do whatever you can to squeeze another 5-10 FPS out of your machine ... Not sure that you will get that though!

If you are sure your mainboard will function with the 7600, and, if you already have a buyer for your old cpu, and it was only a $10-$20 outlay total.....I'd do it, as every few hundred MHz helps. (I'd not do it unless you have a buyer for your old cpu , however)

Upgrade your MB BIOS first...not the time to be without a cpu that functions, and, can't upgrade your BIOS to function with the new CPU....

i am talking to a friend and he recommended me upgrade to a ryzen 5 1600, here in Argentina it costs THE SAME as the i5 7500, around 250 us dolares, yes here it is everything A LOT more expensive

It's not worth it in my opinion at most you will see probably 10fps increase out of that GPU now if you had a 1080 I would say sure thing but I would suggest an I7 7700 instead so you would get a significant bump in performance capability. What is it that you want to be able to do that you can't currently do?

The differences are a bit less. Those are base stock speeds and both cpu's are capable of turbo boost. Comparisons using the lowest base speed makes it appear as though it's a 22% performance increase. Comparing turbo speeds it more of a 15% speed difference. That won't translate to 15% higher fps, the difference might be a few fps in most games. If that's worth the cost of a new cpu or the cost difference between what the old one sells for and the cost of the new one then sure go for it.

Being a lower end i5, ie, not the faster clock speeds and not a k series capable of overclocking, selling used may not bring close to what it was bought for. Depends on the market for used cpu's. It could end up being more like a $50 difference or more. There might be a $10-20 difference between a new 6400 and new 7500 but the 6400 is used. Unless the used market commands a lot higher price in Argentina (I have no idea) it generally won't sell for nearly the cost of a new cpu. Or else people would just buy the new cpu. I know if I were looking at used cpu's and a new one was only $10-20 more I'd buy the one with the warranty.
