So i am planing to replace atleast my gpu 1050ti and ram 8gb whit 1070ti and 16gb ram when i few months ago bought a 1080p 144hz monitor (g-sync). So will my current i5 7500 be able to work fast enought whit the 1070ti or do i need a better cpu which would be the i5 8600k that i chosen. I dont need to hit 144fps avagre in every modern AAA games, 60 is just fine. But would it be worth it to build almost a new pc in my case for like 2-3 years from now on?

oh, if im only upgrading gpu will my corsair VS650 be fine, i know its bad psu...

I don't agree with vapour that the i5 7500 will be good for gaming with a 1070ti for a few years. Those kabylake 4c/4t CPU's are already starting to get maxed out. Take BF1 for example. It will load all your cores to 100% and can cause stuttering even though you have a top GPU.

Getting the 8600k will certainly increase performance. Not only in FPS (but that will just be a small %) but also from host processing point of view. You've 6 cores to play with, and there are no games right now that will push all 6 cores to the max. But will do for a 4 core CPU.

RIght now there are two CPU's capable of pushing 144hz in most games (less so for new AAA games) at 1080p with a top GPU. An 8600k/8700k.

But, then you'd need a new mobo to go with it 🙁

By selling your current system, and putting a few quid together I'm sure vapour and I could come up with some decent builds, that would be much better than upgrading bits as you go along. Any budget in mind for a new build?

OP mentioned 60 is fine. Of course 8600k is better, but cost much more.

@ OP

I would say 7500 is still very capable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMV2yKytQIQ

Kaby lake is not stale yet, you can postpone getting new cpus, not saying keeping it forever :) New cpus are coming out every year.

Well, for a lot of games, I'd agree, the 7500 will do just fine. Anything newer, and AAA games, the OP will be wondering why even with a 1070ti the game will be stuttering!

You video link just illustrates what I said. A 4 core CPU (and a decent one at that) maxes out. And, although FPS is the king of measurements, there is a big difference in smoothness when playing with more cores/threads (which aren't maxed out like the 7500 is). If the OP wants smooth game play, don't hobble it with what is now a bog standard CPU. He has mentioned upgrading and/or a new build. Getting a suitable CPU to go with the shiny GPU is worth considering. Don't you agree?

No real budget here. If im going for a new build i would go as cheap as possible exept the gpu and cpu. as i am getting a unlocked cpu i would like to OC it maybe even to 5ghz atleast 4.5ghz, so a good cheap motherboard that will oc the cpu and many fan connectors would be nice, and then again cheap and good cooler for the cpu (low noice). Would i also need to upgrade psu form the vs650 and which one would it be?
