Upgrade from i7 6700 non k to 8700k?

I currently run a system with an i7 6700 non k since my impatience got the best of me at release of that gen processor, paired with a GTX 1080Ti FE. I do quite a bit of video editing for my youtune channel now and game a lot. I was wondering if its worth the upgrade to the i7 8700k? I have one on preorder but am not sure if its worth $389 + a new motherboard.
