So as the title suggests, just earlier today I upgraded from an i7-6800k to a Xeon E5-2698 v3. When I had the i7, the temperature of the CPU would never exceed 45C, and usually hovered around 42C or so (package temp, according to HWMonitor). The cooler that I use is a Cryorig H5 Ultimate, in a Corsair Obsidian 750D super-tower case. I also have plenty of case fans (7 I think). When I installed the Xeon, all of the sudden, my temps went way up! The package temp is now hovering around 55C under low-to-moderate load. The max temp any of the cores are getting to is around 61C. As it takes me quite some time to disassemble and remove my cooler and CPU and re-apply thermal paste, I was wondering if this is something that makes sense (as in, this is expected to happen on upgrade), or if I did something like applying thermal paste incorrectly. And if it is the case that this is a normal occurrence, I would really appreciate it if I could get some liquid cooler recommendations (looking for something that works really well, I do a lot of CAD, rendering, and of course, gaming, so it preferably should look pretty cool as well).
