So I looked around for a new motherboard with a 1366 socket to upgrade from an OEM and sadly the only ones available are used and still rather expensive. So I gave up on that and was looking at the AMD fx-8350 but honestly it seems like a slouch compared to the new i7

Solution
As firo40 said above - the FX will perform better in some heavily threaded games though (BF4, Crysis 3).

If you're going with the 4670, get the k version for that little boost when you need it. :)
You could possibly benefit from a newer generation CPU.

To the above poster, the 4670k doesn't run circles around the 8350. They're about even, with each having their own pros and cons.

And no, I'm not an AMD fanboy or anything. I actually prefer Intel, and have an i5-4670k myself.

Ya the 430 is a tad dated. The only issue I have with my current setup is the fact that the motherboard is a Dell OEM from a xps machine and in the stock case the NB has an idle temp of 70c and 54c in an aftermarket one. plus the voltages have always been mega messed up and you cant adjust them in the bios.
