So just a question. Beginning to save my pennies a bit here and have been looking at reviews and seeing stuff on the new gtx 1660, 1660 super, and 1660ti. As well as the RTX 2060, 2070, etc.

Current system

Ryzen 7 1700x overclocked to 3.8ghz
16gb ddr4 3000 Crucial Ballistix
240gb Samsung EVO 960
2 1tb mechanical drives for storage
PowerSpec 750 watt bronze modular PSU. Microcenter brand, here is the unit. Rated 62 amps on single 12v+ rail

RX 580 8gb XFX GTS Black OC+ if I'm remembering right link below where I'd purchased the card from ebay

Case is a Cooler Master MB511 with 6 fans installed. 3 in front mesh area, 2 in top, 1 in rear.

Last year I got this monitor for about 200 bucks. The monitor may not be exact. Looks almost exactly like it, but mine has blue accents instead of green. But everything else looks correct.

So obviously, I'm running freesync. Got the new Jedi game, fairly happy with performance on the 580 if I turn everything to high. Haven't really used fraps with it to see what exact frame rate I'm getting. But as I'm looking, newer monitor, I'm planning to stay at 1080p for at least a while. Maybe a good year or 2 unless I just get some kind of great deal I can't pass up. Then I can always gift this monitor to my wife for her home office.

But as I look at reviews, the 1660 and 1660 super don't seem like they are huge upgrades from what I've got. The TI might be interesting I suppose. GTX 1070's and 1080's are older stock now. I guess what I'm asking is in the current market, or things upcoming, what should I aim for do you think? I'm not necessarily in a position that I have to upgrade, but in say 4-5 or 6 months, I would not be opposed either. Probably would want to stay in the 200-300ish price range.

Wonder what the 5600xt will be like?

Ok. So RTX 2060, 2060 super, 2070 or maybe a 5700 or 5700xt then it sounds like.

I'll keep saving up. May go with AMD again. Maybe it's just my perception, but seems like when I've used their cards, that the color depth etc is a bit better. When I used an nvidia card before, just felt like their colors were a little more washed out compared to AMD cards. But maybe they've changed that.

Since the 580 is good for 60hz, then sounds like if I stay a mix of medium to high settings, that should hold me over until I save up enough for a better card.

Ok. Thanks for that. Definitely thinking on it. Used to have a Vega 56 and ended up letting go of it. Kind of missing that card. Been using an rx 580, but when you have a 144hz monitor, the level of performance just isn't the same. Will think on the 1660 ti, as that would get me in that ballpark again.

Thanks for the link. Was checking on some benchmark charts earlier. Should be a massive jump from my 580.

This one may be more accurate.

Here's the actual card I ordered.

But if his PC with a 2600 can handle it well, mine should do good. Overclocked 1700x. Will probably be looking at the 4000 series late this year or next year.

Btw, forgive me for creating a 2nd thread. My monitor does support freesync. I'd seen I think last year or so that nvidia began supporting it also. How well does it work?

I have this monitor. I'm pretty certain this is the one, but I seem to remember paying closer to 200 a year ago when I got it. But I just noticed that appears to be their Canada store, that may be why.

Edit. Wow, just looked on Newegg and that card is now out of stock. Maybe I got the last one lol.
