Hello

I bought ~2 years ago a used Ryzen 5 1600 for cheap ($30)
I don't game, but encode videos (rip blurays to mkv with MakeMKV then transcode to mp4 with Handbrake)
What would be a good CPU upgrade to see a noticeable difference in speed to encode, without breaking the bank?
I'm OK to buy used, unless there is a super current deal for new
My mobo is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2
Thanks

I'm considering getting a Ryzen 7 5700X ($170 at Microcenter). Again, my main objective is to encode DVDs and Blurays faster with Handbrake
Obviously, I want to stay with AMD then I don't need to change my motherboard. Is there any other choice than R7 5700x under $200 (for exemple, will the R5 5600X3D be faster for $30 more?)
Thanks

For your usage, the 5600x3d, whilst a great gaming CPU, would get slightly slower results, due to the 5700x having more cores and threads. The 5700x is a very competent gamer too. Not quite as fast as the 5600x3d (in some games~), but it's equal or better in more CPU intensive games/work.

Nice thread necro hah, for handbreak it looks like the extra cache on the X3D does help out, but i cant say whether itll make as big a difference as the extra threads. Honestly if you can pickup a 5900X it looks like it may be your most balanced choice for that, otherwise i would go with the 5700X.
