Hey guys, I currently have a Seagate SATA hdd ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148018 )

And I am thinking of buying this Samsung SATAII hdd from an auction. It's used but it's "in good condition" as the user has written. No bad sectors, but it has one problem.

Should I buy this hdd and will this make my computer significantly faster?

ultra dma crc errors are often caused by a bad SATA cable, so not necessarily indicative of a failing drive.

As regards performance of SATAII over SATA, you will only get the speed benefit of SATAII if your motherboard is equipped with a SATAII controller, otherwise a SATAII drive will give you only SATA performance.

Likewise with a SATAIII drive. It will only perform at the speed dictated by the specification of the motherboard's SATA controller.

I have an Asus PG41T-M LX3 motherboard, and as I read it supports SATAII, that means it probably has a SATAII controller?

Too late! I bought it already. :) Also I got another 160Gb drive from him that has no errors whatsoever. 320Gb is just fine for me.
