Hey All,
Current Specs
Cpu- i7 4770k overlocked to 4.4GHz with air cooling
Mobo- Asus Maximus Hero 6
Ram-Corsair Vengeance 8gb
GPU- GTX 1060 3gb
SSD- Samsung 860 Evo 250gb
HDD- Seagate Barracuda 2tb
As the spec list shows I built this gaming pc back in 2013 when 4th gen Haswell launched. Its been good to me and I haven't experienced any troubles with running games at 1080 with high settings. However, Haswell is now 5 years old. I am really looking forward to the new Battlefield game dropping later this year. I do some light video editing and streaming as well. If I were to make upgrades this summer to last me another 2+years, would it be wise to upgrade gpus and go to 16gb ram or overhaul the system with a bump up to Coffee Lake while keeping the 1060 3gb. I wouldn't have the cash to do both. Of course going with with Coffee Lake would require me to upgrade mobo and ram as well. Going off current retails a 1070 would run about $450 and 16gb set of ddr3 on average $120 for a total of $570. i7 8700k $340 z370 board $160 and another $160 for 16gb of ddr4 coming to $660. So similar prices to compare. What would be the best route to go now for the next few years? Sorry for the long post. Thank you in advance for any responses and insight.
