Hi, first of im a novice, slowly learning this stuff. Second, i bought a custom built pc with the help of a pal back in 2014 and i have a few questions besides the possible graphic card upgrade so please bare with me.

Pc Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770-K 3.5 GHz (4cores - 8 threads)-Haswell (unlocked multiplier)

RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast Dual Channel DDR3-2400 - 8GB (2x4GB)

Mobo: Asus z87-K C2 - Haswell

Storage: 1: Samsung 840 EVO SSD 120 GB. EVO 2: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 - 2TB

Dvd Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl.

Air supply: Cooler Master Hyper 412S- silenced

Power: Corsair CX750M (Modular) 80plus Bronze

And last but not least my monitor is the Acer 24" V246HLbmd.
First off the card. My current card is the:

Asus Geforce GTX 780 DirectCU ii OC

I was considering considering buying the

ASUS GeForce GTX 970 Strix - 4GB GDDR5

But after some reseach it doesnt seem like it would improve my graphics by much unless im missing something and since the Pascal and what have you, are about to hit the marked. Perhaps its more ideal to wait for a price drop on a 980 ti or something along those lines?
I have around 500 US dollers worth to spend but im from Denmark so prices would change for me here.

All advice is greatly appreciated and if there is any advice on boosting my current setup. Great!

The 970 wouldn't be a good upgrade from the 780. You'll want at least a 980, or even better a 980 ti. The 980 has less power consumption and much better performance than the 780.
The Pascal cards are releasing soon, but it'll be a while before the cheaper versions from independent manufacturers come into play. If you can't wait and you can afford it, you can get an overpriced founders edition, with really no bonuses in it besides the cooler.

you should wait for the release of the gtx 1070

you could then get a deal on a gtx 980 ti from people upgrading

Thanks for the advice and quick answer. Big thumbs up to the both of you. Im gonna hold out for and see what happens to the prizes once the new gtx 1080 and 70 comes out. If its within range i might go for the 1070 over the 980 ti.
