Hello guys,

I am new here, can you please help me? :)

Currently I have this, almost 7years old pc: https://www.alfa.cz/basket.php?items=_13R4010X350111P1010TUP020ZY401163A0116LF0116JA0115RK01147L0100BN010VKH01

Over the years I add 6gb ram, so I have 10gb. And I changed graphics card to msi amd r9 270x gaming.

I use Pc mostly for racing simulators (assetto corsa, race room) and want have more performance from PC, because I want to play at higher details.

So my question is:
Is it better to buy new graphics card (gtx 1060 or rx 580) or buy new cpu, motherboard and ram and keep other components from my current pc?
Which one gives me more performance?
Because I am affraid that new graphics card will be slowed down by cpu.

If you think that second option is better, than please help me choose cpu, motherboard and ram.
My budget is about 350 dollars.

Thanks for your answers :)

Solution
Well you are right, that AMD is likely to cause a bottleneck with a GTX or RX card that you are suggesting. Because racing sims don't take much CPU power, you could upgrade the CPU/MOBO/RAM and keep the R9 270x until you are able to change that as well. Also, it depends on your PSU. This does mean that the 6GB of RAM you got was a waste as well.

You have to choices:

You could go the Ryzen route, and become future proof yourself. You can also overclock out the box and you will stick with AMD. This doesn't include a PSU, case, or hard drive.

Or you could start small with Intel and upgrade over time again up to a i7-7700K:

Really thanks for answer :) okay so upgrading graphics card seems useless if I cant use it for 100%. Is it possible that my current cpu even bottlenecks my r9 270x and with better cpu will be graphics card working better?

So do you think that even with your cheaper option I will get some performance upgrade in fps in this race sims? How much do you think it will be better? 😀

I do think your current situation is causing a bottleneck. If you go the G4560, I can only say that you will most definitely see improvements. How much? Too many factors at hand to tell.Just want to make sure your drivers are up to date, and that you re-install Windows cleanly. Doing this big of an upgrade means that a lot stuff will get clogged. So by re-installing, it will remove that clog.

I was trying msi afterburner and get thise results. Gpu usage was about 45% in race sim, but cpu usage was 85-95%
So it looks like my gpu can work better (with better cpu) right? I can post screenshots from afterburner if you want :) thank you

No no no, your CPU is bottlenecking. Since it's nearly at 100%, this means that your CPU can not give the GPU instructions fast enough. Again, you need a better CPU which is why you should upgrade. The G4560 is a nice starter chip that will be able to handle instructions.

Thanks for answer. So do you think that g4560 is better choice now? Is ryzen unnecessary with my current gpu? Will be too much better than my gpu that it will be bottlenecked by gpu?

I don't think Ryzen is necessary, not to mention, it's a bit more expensive than the G4560. The G4560 is the sweet spot, and you will see improvements, no doubt.

Okay now I have only one dilemma. And that is future upgrade. I found on internet that AM4 socket will be supported until 2020. But how long there will be lga 1151? It is not better buy amd in that case?

Well they will all be dated at some point of time, so future proofing isn't easy to determine. However, the hardware should work for about 4-5 years. You are going to have to upgrade regardless. You could possibly go with the LGA 1151, but not sure if Intel is keeping the socket.

You should update your GFX. Don't jump for the 1060, get the 1050ti.
I have the Athlon X4 760k, which is a lso an old AMD quad core from around the same time period, and with the 1050ti
there is no bottleneck, just high fps.
