My current spec is:
Intel Core i3 3220 Processor 3.3 GHz (Ivy Bridge)
Asus P8B75-M LX Basic Micro ATX Motherboard
8GB PC3-10666 1333MHz DDR3 Memory
Chillblast AMD Radeon HD 7770 1024MB Graphics Card
Chillblast Basic 700W PSU

I would like to upgrade the Graphics Card first maybe to AMD R9 380 and then later to an i5 upwards.

Would this work or are there any other advice?

Thanks

That PSU is of questionable quality. I would get a tier 1 or tier 2 unit, before you upgrade anything else. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

The 380 is a fine card, but go with the 4gb model. It is slightly better than the GTX 960.

To avoid having to get a new copy of windows, I would upgrade your current CPU, with a 1230v2, which is an i7 3770, without the integrated graphics. Haswell is not worth the added cost, and frankly neither is skylake, really.

Hello nosbody. You have a decent build and so are your ideas of improvement. Although I'd recommend you to go for Nvidia graphic cards for a couple reasons that I've read about on many websites: Nvidia cards are usually better in performance, have more memory efficiency and are more stable fps-wise when playing games. I own a Gigabyte Radeon R7 260X OC 2GB GDDR5 and it is very frequent for it to run from 100 fps to 200 and back which can cause the lack of smoothness when it comes down to performance, although it doesn't drop from the 60 fps. Also, I've been told Nvidia goes really well with Intel builds (cpu, motherboard socket etc) because both manufacturers have a little better performance than AMD (without bashing AMD, I really like AMD) but for further improvements I'd rather go with Intel & Nvidia (I forgot to mention, AMD graphic cards usually consume more power than Nvidia). I'd recommend you to upgrade to a Asus GTX960 STRIX DirectCU II OC 4GB GDDR5 and to go along with that a Intel® Core™ i5-4690K Processor
(6M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz). It would be a expensive improvement but I think it would pay off pretty well! Although I'm not sure your motherboard would support the CPU.
