Upgrade help, need experts here please.

Well, it is that time of the year again (6 months to be exact) and I need some suggestions and feedback on potential upgrades.

Right now I am sporting an Athlon 800 Mhz, Abit KA7 mobo with 256megs of generic ram, Voodoo 5 5500, WD 30gig HD (7200 rpm), Sound Blaster Live Value (replaced with Plantronics DSP-500 Headset USB Audio, no Sound Card requird).

Now, some of you might gawk at the post and say "it's not time to upgrade", if this is true, then others will back that theory.

For those of you still with this post and would like to comment, let me throw out some suggestions and see where they go.

Athlong 1.2 or 1.33 ghz (266fsb)
No clue on the mobo
No clue on memory (DDR, SDRAM, etc) I do know that I want at least 256-384megs.
GeForce III or GeForce II Ultra.

Please help a fellow gamer/hardware junkie out in the upgrade department! Thanks ahead of time.

I guess it depends on your budget and your need. I suggest holding out on the system upgrade until Palomino is available. If you are dying for a video card upgrade go for it. It will still work later.

Too early for Geforce 3. Ultras are still overpriced plus I think the GTS or PRO is enough for resolutions up to and including 1280x1024. In my opinion, you would need at least an Ultra for 1600x1200 but as someone else pointed out to me, you need something like a 24" display for this.

as phsstpok said, wait for Palomino (next amd cpu). Also, wait for the next card that comes after the geforce3.
