upgrade help needed

happy new year to you all,
my pc at the moment is
i5-2500k
GA-Z68AP-D3
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1866Mhz Vengeance Pro Kit
GTX 770 4gig
and a ViewSonic VG240
my main use it to play BF4 and i use the gigabyte overclock utiity to get the cpu 4ghz


my question is am i best just swapping the CPU for a i7-3770K
or get a new MB and use the RAM i have with a i7-4790K.
seems the older CPU is higher in the CPU charts and is an easier and cheaper option, or should i go the whole hog and get the newer CPU with a new MB (and keep the RAM if ok).

no keep the i5 and get a better graphics card, maybe SLI if you can and have the PSU for it

is the GTX970 that much better to spend £300 or save up for the GTX980

the gtx 970 is only 10-20% worse then the 980, but SO much cheaper. i recommend getting a 970, and if you get more money get another one and put it in sli. the gtx 970 sli setup is just 100 bucks (i dont know how much in pounds) more then the 980 but will crush it.

the reason i wanted to upgrade was that i asume that the older 2500k with its PCI 2 would be slowing my GTX770 down, and dropping in a newer i7-3770k would be a boost all round.
then i saw that the even newer i7-4790k was the same price. then a simple decision gets harder,lol.
