Upgrade HP 15 laptop to i7

is the i5 a dual core? That is pretty common for laptops.

When I bought my laptop, I had the choice of a i5 dual core or a i7 quad core. It was only a $90 upgrade and was VERY worth it. Its a 3.2ghz quad core with hyperthreading, a beast.

1. Why? What are you looking to get out of this?
2. What CPU is in there now, and can it actually be changed?
3. Is an i7 a verified CPU for that motherboard and laptop?

In a laptop, you can replace the motherboard only if that new motherboard was an option on that particular model line.
You can't just replace it willy-nilly.

Your best bet is to get a new laptop.

Don't even bother trying to upgrade it, Just buy a used or new laptop with higher specs.
