Upgrade i3-2120 to sandy bridge i5/i7?

My i3-2120 has started to show its game on recent games such as Fortnite and Overwatch.Currently, my cpu is paired witha R9 290x.I was wondering if I should upgrade to a newer skylake cpu and replace my whole motherboard or buy a 2nd/3rd gen i5/i7.

Probably used as I am on a tight budget (200 dollars and below)

There is really no upgrade for your system that makes any sense other than if you can find a used i7-2600k for less than 100 bucks, which is unlikely but occasionally they are out there, from a seller with a very good reputation and large sales history.


MUCH better would be saving a few more bucks and doing this.
