Hiya everyone !! So i’ve had my current rig for what will be coming up to 2 years now but im frightened that with new releases like Modern warfare, Cyberpunk, Avengers, Watch dogs 3, etc that Ive failed to future proof it enough to keep my games running at least on high settings 60fps...

Just looking on some tips from you guys seeing as im still learning with only 2 years experience and only 1 rig under my belt, if you could suggest any upgrades if needed before i go to uni in OCT that would be great:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz 6-Core
AMD B350M PRO-VDH AM4 Motherboard
Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 2400 RAM 16gb (8x2)
Nvidia Gforxe Gtx 1050ti 4gb Vram
Crucial BX500 480gb SSD
Seagate 1tb HDD
Cosair TX550M 550w

Solution
In my opinion, before rtx actually becomes commonplace in games, original 20 series rtx cards will be very obsolete.

Anything over a 1660 or ti is overkill for 1080p. A 1660ti can get like 100fps at 1080p max.

If you havw the budget for it a 3600 and 1660ti would be a good pairing.

Your 1600 still holds up well, but the ram speed does slow thw cpu a bit. I'd upgrade gpu first then cpu as the 1050 will hold you back a lot.

But, upgrades really do depend on budget. Whats your budget?
Im looking really anything around the £400 mark, depending on what that gets me gpu+cpu wise or just one or the other is what im having trouble deciding on

I would advise upgrading your gpu to a 1660ti. The ryzen 5 1600 is fine for 60hz.
nice okay you've been a massive help , couple more questions if i were to get an either an ultrawide monitor or a double monitor setup what would you suggest for each

also is there any point in looking into RTX until its more mainstream in gaming rather than select games ?

GPU and Ryzen 3000 series would be a good combo for now and distant future. RTX 2060(non super) can be found under $300. Have an EVGA XC Gaming one myself in Ryzen build and 60Hz 1080P TV and works great. Overkill at the moment, but should hold up well for future releases. A Ryzen 5 3600 perhaps?

Depends on game, really. Even outside of Ray-Tracing, the 2060 is a bit faster than 1660Ti. Not sure how long the OP intends to run this build. I'm just recommending for consideration due to the current sale due to 2060 Super replacements.
I quite like the 2060 and 1660ti as im interested in RTX and testing it early on, im off to uni in a couple months and want to make sure that my pc is futureproof so when im broke i dont have to worry about an upgrade. So my rig would stay with me for around 2-3 years
