Upgrade in card

Hi, so far I'm using the gtx 550ti for quite awhile and it plays AC4 decently well. Looking for upgrade as passing my card to my friend. What card will provide much upgrade and yet does not cost much?

amd r9 270x its about 199 if you need something cheaper in the same performance threshold check out the amd radeon 7870 for around 160/170

whats your budget and as he/she said a 270x is great. just got one myself
