Upgrade laptop memory

What happen if I direct install (upgrade) a new 4 gb ram
To 8 gb without removing battery because my laptop battery is inside
Asus x555lf

As long as the computer is fully shutdown and you make sure you discharge any static you may have (touch a metal frame or whatever right before you change the memory) it should be fine. You could attempt to unplug the battery first but those laptops are not exactly made for user servicing so you should try to just change the ram stick and avoid touching other stuff. Regardless, it's not as delicate as most people make it sound, just be careful and use common sense.
