Hi,

I currently have Lenovo B305 AIO PC. It came with AMD support motherboard and AMD Athlon II X4 processor with 4 GB RAM (MAX is 4GB).

I am trying to upgrade it by replacing with a new motherboard to support new processor and more RAM. I opened the machine yesterday to notice that the motherboard is a mini ITX style one where RAM is slide down to save space. I'll take measurements of the board also but I am wondering how to find a similar style motherboard but a newer one which can support new processor like AMD Kaveri.

I think I can even switch to Intel processor if I can get a compatible motherboard.

My purpose of upgrading is to speed up the machine (also by getting a new SSD). I need more power to install SQL Server and other software that is needed for my work. The current system is not being able to handle the load.

Any ideas on this type of upgrade? Do we have this type of motherboards (and may be the back panel) for sale?

Thanks a lot for the help in advance!

AIO's are not meant to be upgraded, they are actually closer to a laptop in design than a desktop., you *may* be able to change the processor, but you would have to check w/ lenovo.

That said if you some changed the motherboard, being an OEM system (Lenovo) you would need to purchase a new os as that's what the OEM OS is tied to.
