i have a titan maxwell hybrid and a r9 295x2 is it worth upgrading to a 1080 ti .have pre ordered a gigabyte nvidia gtx ti aorus xtreme

Solution

If that's the case the 1080 Ti is your best option. I have a Zotac AMP Extreme, playing at 3440x1440 100Hz, and the only game that will ever drop below 100fps is Battlefield 1. The r9 295x2 is not even as fast as a 1080 so I would say maybe 35-40% slower than a Ti. Never heard of a Maxwell Hybrid. But if you are gaming at anything less than 100Hz (say 75 or 60) that...
1) what are you going to be using it for? (Resolution, gaming/editing etc.)
2) The Aorus is overhyped, there are much better cards out there. Namely the Zotac AMP Extreme and MSI Gaming X in that order.

Here's a lot of the cards and why I have a problem with them, none are really "bad" but they have some pretty big flaws;
Asus ROG Strix OC- overpriced... tied for most expensive while placed at rank 5-6 or lower for performance, paying for the brand name.
EVGA FTW3- Same as above
Aorus Xtreme- Price isn't bad but riddled with problems so far, bad factory OC's, not much OC headroom, ugly. Ranked 3rd in performance. Think they might have fixed it with latest BIOS, but still, not a great start for what should have been the best 1080 Ti model...
Zotac AMP- not bad, but not nearly as good as the MSI Gaming X at the same price.
Inno3d x3 and x4- better than the Asus but harder to find, don't even know the price point.
EVGA SC- just plain overhyped, doesn't really outperform any card, and you pay for the brand name.
Galax HOF- heard nothing but great things about this card of the very little I have heard, but again hard to find, and I don't even know the price point.

MSI Gaming X- #2 in out of the box performance, cool and super quiet. But those ugly red accents. A mere $40 more than the reference design. Very hard to beat, only thing that gets me is looks.
Zotac AMP Extreme- My card of choice. Absolutely love it. LED's are fantastic, #1 out of the box performance, lots of overclocking headroom, fairly cool, and VERY quiet. A mere $20 over the MSI, and $10 more than the Aorus. Overall this is my card of choice, hands down, all day every day. BUT it is MASSIVE and it sucks up A LOT of juice, needlessly most likely. But you end up with a fantastic card with plenty of OC headroom and is also cool and quiet.

GAMING at 3440-1440 , have preordered a Aorus xtreme for 720 pounds , thought the zotac was to much over kill ,also alot more money .cpu i5 4690k@4.6 32 gb ram .Not sure if at 3440-1440 i will notice much difference than the maxwell hybrid ( also have a r9 295x2 ) thanks for the reply , will look into the MSI .The Aorus just seems to be a good price .THANKS BYE .

But if you are gaming at anything less than 100Hz (say 75 or 60) that 295x2 is probably fine save for the most intensive games. I was able to get by with the 1080 at that with trouble only on the hardest games. If I was playing at 60Hz the 1080 would have been more than enough.

Yeah overseas the AMP Extreme is quite a bit more. For you I would suggest the MSI then for sure. Cheaper than the Aorus and faster.
