Upgrade modem and/or router?

I have a ASUS RT-N66R (retail version of RT-N66U) router and a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, specifically the Linksys BEFCMU10. I know the DOCSIS 2.0 is older standard but the DOCSIS 3.1 is coming into production within a year. Should I just upgrade my modem now to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem? Is my router still a good router, and if not then what do you recommend?

If you want internet speed greater than 40Mbit then you have to upgrade your modem. At 40Mbit your router should be just fine.
