Hey everyone,
I've been out of the system building game for a while after building my first rig. Now I'm looking to upgrade some components and wanted an opinion on what would provide the biggest jump in gaming performance for my system, and possibly a suggestion for what to upgrade to (yes I've looked at the hierarchy charts, but I love getting people's anecdotal opinions too!). My budget is $200-$300, and I am generally willing to pay a little more to have something that will last well into the future. I'm thinking of only upgrading 1 component right now, with more in the near future. Here's my system:
CPU: Intel i7-930 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad Core
GPU: EVGA Superclocked GTX 570 1280MB x 1
Mem: Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600
MoBo: ASUS P6X58D LGA 1366 SATA 6G/s USB3.0 ATX
HDD: WD Black 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
PSU: Corsair TX650w
I think that's about everything. My biggest questions are as follows:
Would the CPU, GPU, or HDD provide the biggest upgrade bang for my buck?
Should I consider SLI with another GTX570, and if so, will my PSU be able to hang? (I think I'll need to upgrade to an 850w if I SLI.)
**edit: just was digging around for prices on a new GTX570 and I'm going to go ahead and rule out SLI for this card. I WILL consider upgrading it if that would help my system.
