My i3-2120 can't keep up with Battlefield V, so I've decided to upgrade. Problem is, I don't know whether to save money and find a CPU with my LGA1155 socket type or upgrade the motherboard along with the CPU. I've had my eyes on the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G and I'm willing to upgrade the motherboard as well.

I have DDR3 ram with a GTX 1050 OC.

Also, if anybody has any other recommendations for CPUs or knows about a good CPU/Motherboard combo, feel free to link it down below!

Thanks!

If you wanna upgrade now, you can get AMD Ryzen 5 2600x with 16 GB of ddr4 3000 mhz and MSI b450 Tomahawk or ASRock steel legend. All of that would be around $400 or you could wait for the new AMD CPU. If I were you, I would sell the 1050 and get RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 ti and upgrade the ram, CPU and mobo.

We're less than a month away from the 3rd gen Ryzen release. The lowest end Ryzen appears to be the $199 Ryzen 5 3600 6C/12T processor.

If the 500-series boards are released at the same time, you might be able to score a combo deal. If not, the 400-series boards should be compatible. But be sure to look for ones that say they are Ryzen 3rd gen compatible.

You will also need DDR4 for new system, probably PSU too.
