Upgrade motherboard + cpu from 7gen to 8?

hi, i bought a 7 gen intel i 7 7700k and asus formula ix before the 8gen, should i sell both and buy the new generation ro wait until a 9gen ?

The 7th Gen is still a good chip. If you have the money, go for the 8th. Otherwise stick with 7th.

If this is for gaming, then you wont find any significant gain in terms of performance. The 7700k and 8700k, are both more or less in the same bracket gaming wise. If this is not for gaming, then it can be a wise change. But then, there are other platforms to consider as well.

I'd wait for when both Intel and AMD have fixes in silicon from meltdown and spectre. Any you get now, comes with a time bomb as to when the exploits of those gets really bad.

i use for gaming but my cpu is using like 60% in background apps when will be realase the next gen of intel ?

You need to fix the problem. Changing hardware is not the solution.
