I am looking to upgrade my computer that I have built over 14 years ago it's an intel core 2 duo p5b deluxe wifi ap board, some 10k raptors in raid 0, nvidia geforce 560, seasonic 500w psu. I am looking to renew the build with a new mother board and intel processor. i'd like to know which would be the best cheap processor not for over clocking but for use at stock as well as a rock solid mother board that i could use for the next 14-15 years and wouldnt need to worry about upgrading again as i have done before. I am not a hard core gaimer but would like to try out new games here and there. my budget for upgrade is set at 500usd if possible. I intend to reuse my old win7 os and components i already have installed. recently purchased 120gb ssd on newegg for 55usd that's set as my new system drive and not part of upgrade budget.

I should have said, I've built the unit over 14 years ago because i remember building it in 2000 after graduation. After that few components failed and i've replaced those as needed to patch it up thus some of the components such as video card and psu are more recent. paid over 2k for the build at the time so c2d was around back then indeed.
