Hey guys! So I've been playing the Witcher 3 on my computer but right now the damn thing can barely handle 18-20 fps on low which is pretty painful. So I'm wondering right now with the new gen consoles out if i should just buy a ps4 or upgrade my build. And if i dump say 450 on a graphics card will that be all i need or will i run into bottleneck issues?

Here's what I'm running:

i5 2500k @ 3.3
AMD Radeon HD 6700
8g DDR3 ram
PCI motherboard

Let me know if I'm missing anything this is my first time posting a build. Thanks again guys :)

Solution
if you play an extremely cpu intensive game's or game modes in a game your cpu might bottleneck

some examples are: bf4 64 player rush, planetside 2, starcraft2 custom games arcade or 4v4 and more

personally i would upgrade that gpu in a heart beat
but,
next gen is starting to look good at e3 got some crazy awesome looking exclusives and project morpheus, hololens, and also Oculus Rift partnering with xbox/microsoft we could see some great things out of next gen consoles for the first time!
also lets be honest some games like cod are just better on console and more user friendly

The only problem with your build now is the gpu is lacking you don't need the top of the line gpu to run that game but There seems to be a lot of issues with people who are trying to run it. Which leads me to belive its poorly optimized has bugs and or needs patches ... Pick a good card say around 250 bucks and you should be sit. Don't go to console because there already talking ps5 now in a year or so ... so much wasted for capped FPS

Oh man you guys are making me feel like i've been playing blindfolded this whole time haha. Well thats good to know i can just slap on a gtx 970 and ill be good to go (any other suggestions?) But yeah Assassin i've been thinking that too. Thing is i used to have a xbox360 and i never really used it id always be on my comp. But i have a lot of faith in this gens consoles. Also a console is nice when you have friends over so you can play together. I'm pretty torn :x. If i upgrade the GPU id get a controller attachment cause some games i find are just better with a controller.

if u enjoy pc gaming then get the gtx 970 :)
i have heard the best one is the msi gtx 970 4gb (http://www.google.com/shopping/product/2835797074593882085?sclient=psy-ab&safe=active&rlz=1CAACAG_enUS638US638&es_sm=93&biw=1366&bih=657&q=gtx+970&oq=gtx+9&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.&bvm=bv.96041959,d.cGU&pf=p&bs=1&gs_rn=64&gs_ri=psy-ab&ds=sh&pq=gtx+980&cp=5&gs_id=k&xhr=t&tch=1&ech=2&psi=ioaAVeCEFoPyoATVs4KIBg.1434486410783.7&ved=0CBgQpitqFQoTCK-Hr7eGlcYCFVV9iAodSEkDZQ&ei=q4aAVe-FNNX6oQTIko2oBg)

Only cards that come close to the GTX970 in that price range are the R9 290X (a little slower) or the R9 290 (a little slower than the R9 290X).
If you're thinking of staying with AMD this is probably the best choice (if the PSU can handle it and it fits your case): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202143 It's probably the best cooled R9 290 out there and the overclock to 1GHz gives it a useful boost. Compare the blue GTX970 bar with the grey R9 290 bar in the benchmarks here: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_970_Gaming/
Otherwise Newegg have some cracking deals on the GTX970, with several cards undercutting the inferior R9 290X making the choice painfully obvious.

Hey yall. Just thought id say i got the gtx 970 from msi and im running witcher 3 with everything maxxed out and hairworks on and im at 45-50fps. Pretty awesome also works just fine my power supply is 650 so i think its borderline but ive had no issues so far. Also i think i need to upgrade my screen cause im getting some tearing in games. But yeah super happy with this purchase so far its silent as hell and runs like a beast. I have seen the light.
