from a quick google search it says your running an fx 4300, depending on your motherboard you might be able to upgrade to a better fx processor, otherwise if you wanted to get a ryzen cpu or you want to go with 6/7/8th gen intel then you will need to buy a new motherboard, ram, and ofc the cpu, the first choice is the cheapest but wont give you that much more in preformance, the second option is a bit more pricy but will give you a huge preformance boost

Yep. Your current cpu(4300) and the 8300 both have a 95w tdp. The other 2 models I mentioned are 125w. Your current mobo likely cannot handle the higher power delivery and you risk damaging your system.

Sorry about my earlier post. It wasn't the power supply, but the motherboard that would be the issue with the 8320 and 8350.
Also, you may or may not need a bios update before installing the new cpu. Check the board manufacturers' site.

The Fx 8300 is a good processor to go with, but if you do have the money I would seriously think about going to a new platform, the ryzen 1200 would blow the 8300 out of the water, as it gets about 40 fps more in games like gta 5, for about $300 you can get a ryzen 1200, a B350 board, and an 8 GB kit of DDR4 Ram
