I have had my pc since 2008, built by myself and a friend. I have upgraded bits along the way and its still going strong! But i want to know if and what i could upgrade to make it pack a bit more punch again and be more capable to withstand todays games. on the whole it can handle its self well but i can see its lagging or not quite able to run so well now.

Tell me anything you need to know in regards to specs and i will post!

Yeaaaaaaaah i know im just wondering if there are any options. Its only because ive had it forever and dont want t just throw it all away! But im not against going and building a whole new one again tbh.

Unfortunately your mobo/cpu/ram isn't compatible with modern hardware and your gpu is too weak for most modern titles.

Do you have a budget for a new build ? and country ?

Hmm I’m not sure really. I’m in the UK.

I’m open to £600- £800 as I could do that over time.

So if you do consider starting a new these are 2 builds great for the budget !

This one includes everything you need to game at 1080p high/ultra settings for a few years

This one (my pref) drops the ssd, and 1 of your 8gb ram sticks but upgrades to a 1070, much more gaming power, so you could game at 1080p for quite a bit longer or even 1440p. You would want to buy another ram stick within a year or so, and an ssd if you like.

Thank you for your brilliant suggestions!

I want it now... haha

Why would you not put in an SSD? Just cutting a cost or ?

Thanks again for your response !

Any suggestion on a guide for putting together all pieces and setting it all up? It has been forever since I did it and I was hardly leading the way the last time when my friend put it together. Thanks !

No worries mate, and yeah cutting the cost of upgrading the gpu !
Obviously case is preference and you could take the 1070 build with the 1060 instead and drops the price to around 690-700 quid, still a great card, have one myself, but 1070 will last longer.

2 decent guides

The first link, make sure you download the windows files onto a usb to install onto your new pc, tells you at 14:53 in the first vid but best to do it before you build, also watch the whole guide before you start

Ok! So I have just added the ssd from the first one, to your pref build. The video how to link is also extremely helpful.

Now I’m just wondering about what Windows OS is best ?

Anything else I should consider also before going ahead ?

Thanks ! :)
