Upgrade my processor

I am upgrading my processor for gaming. I have the g4400 and want to upgrade and i have ab asus motherboard with ddr4 x2, ati radeon rx470 videao card and am not sure what type of cpu to get. 1151 pin set.

which motherboard, it may have a support ceiling?
but with a skylake board you can run skylake or kaby lake processors

I have an Asus H110M-A M.2 motherboard. 200 to 250 USD for CPU. Board Cpu support LGA 1151.

i would recommend any i5 that is in the sky lake series because going to kaby lake with the H110M chip set can be hard.

It is for gaming, but i am not trying for top end, just want to run Mass effect Andromeda and not have to upgrade again for a year or so.

but dont get a i5 ending in a k because you can overclock in those and they cost more only get one if you want to over clock. Also get one that comes with a cpu cooler if you dont have a compatible one already.

BIOS support is sketchy on some boards. you need a skylake chip to flash to the proper firmware version if available. your g4400 is skylake so that is not an issue.

the 6600 has a fixed clock and cannot easily be overclocked.
the 6600k like all k series chips are unlocked and easily overclock-able with the right motherboard.

also upgrading your bios can be kinda risky because if you lose power or something like that you can break your mobo, so its just better to stay in skylake because there is not that much of a performance difference in games.

those would work only get the i5-6600k if you want to overclock

6600 is way newer

the i5 4460 is a 4th generation chip and will require DDR3 and a new motherboard, it is not pop-in your existing motherboard ready so to speak.
the 6600 will just pop into your existing motherboard and go

Yes he said one month usage on new asus a110m board. Is replacing with new hardware.
