Upgrade now or buy a new PC in future or do both?

Hey Guys,

So I assembled my PC back in 2012
My current setup:
i3 2120
Sap R9 270x
8GB DDR3
GA-H61M-DS2
Corsair CX500

My mother board supports i5 3470 and i7 3770. I bought my i3 2120 back then for $110 and I'm thinking if it's a good idea to upgrade from i3 2120 to i5 3470 or i7 3770?
i5 3470 is available for $110 and i7 3770 for $265.

Would a CPU upgrade make a difference? or is the GPU suits best for i3 2120 and I'd see no significant difference?
I know it depends on the games but overall is it worth it considering the cost?

I won't be upgrading my GPU anytime soon. Alot of new games are gonna hit market soon so I'm wondering if an upgrade would work to push few frames up as i5 has 4 physical cores.

I'm looking forward to buy a new rig in 2019 hopefully.

Thanks!

A 270 is a fairly low end card, you may get some mild increase by upgrading CPU, but not enough to justify the cost.

Money would be better spent on a GTX 1050ti. You will max out your CPU but you will see better performance in games all around.
