Hey, I have had my current rig for quite some time now... And I think it is now time to upgrade, I have been out of the loop on hardware so I was wondering if y'all could help... My current specs are the xfx r9 280x, fx 8350, 16 gb dd3 ram... One hdd that is 1 terabyte and an 850w psu....

My hdd and psu are good... Just want to upgrade gpu and cpu

I plan on gameing at 1080p ultra for triple A titles... I don't plan to edit videos or anything like that. And I hope the new rig will last 3-4 years thanks!

Amd doesn't have Anything to offer in AM3+ beyond what op already has.

There's 2 options. Live with current, OC, decide later or new platform. No cpu upgrades unless you want to waste money on the exact same cpu with higher factory clocks, the 8370.

So, move to Intel, probably skylake, or wait for Zen in 1st-2nd quarter of next year.

The 8350 can handle any current gpu, limited only by budget. OC can help a LOT with increased fps. Needs a GOOD aftermarket cpu cooler. Any cooler bought currently will have hardware to fit skylake cpus so is transferable later on. Unknown if it will fit Zen with the same amd fasteners.
