Upgrade on other ssd

Hi there,
Im thinking of upgrading to Windows 10 from my 8.1 system.
But i have bought a laptop with a ssd and i was figuring wether of not i could connect the ssd to my computer and upgrade onto the ssd. And then put it back into the laptop.
Would this be possible?
Im probable nog going to use the desktop anymore so i would not mind if it cant upgrade anymore of whatever.

Moving an OS on a drive from one system to another is never a good idea - as well as licencing/activation issues you may run into, an OS installs intself with refernce to the hardware it finds itself running on. So moving an OS drive is asking for trouble, even if it initially seems to work.

I would advise getting your system set up exactly as you want it before the Win 10 upgrade
