Upgrade Options for an Intel T2250?

Greetings,

I'm trying to upgrade the processor on a Gateway MX8711, but I'm not sure where to go since some sources say I can use a higher clock speed (533 vs 667) on this model. I thought clock speed was "set in stone" when you got the system and couldn't be changed.

Anyway, currently it has a Intel T2250 1.73 GHz chip "SL9DV." The board is out of the laptop anyway, so changing it won't be an issue.

Any suggestions and further education would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Here is a list , but make sure that the speed is the same(533 clock speed) some laptops might work with higher frequency while others do not, but to play it safe I suggest to go with 533 clock speed.

Gskillrip,

Apologies on the delay, but just wanted to give you a heads up that a Dual Core T7600 2.33 GHz and 667 FSB does work on the laptop. I'll pick you as the solution since you responded.

Thanks!
