Upgrade options for the FX 8100 (Friend)

My buddy currently has the FX 8100. Would any of the other FX series CPU's be a worthy upgrade for him? He's not wanting to buy another motherboard and get an Intel. I've looked at some benches and reviews. What do you guys think?

Just make sure he has sufficient cooling and overclock it as far as it will go. None of the other FX chips are worth upgrading to.

There's no other AMD worth upgrading to. The best he can do is wait until Zen releases (Q4 2016 - Q2 2017) and browse his options. Otherwise, Intel is the only way.

There is no cost effective upgrade. The best option would be to get a decent aftermarket cooler and overclock the FX8100 as much as it or the motherboard will take. You could get a decent performance boost by the time you hit 4.0Ghz.
