Hallo,

i am thinking of upgrade my current pc (or buying a complete new one in September), to play Cyberpunk 2077 on mid-high settings.

My current mashine:
  • Intel Core i7 5820K 6x 3.30GHz So.2011-3 WOF
  • MSI X99S SLI PLUS Intel X99 So.2011-3 Quad Channel DDR4 ATX Retail
  • 16 GB (2*8GB) Crucial CT2K4G4DFS8213 DDR4-2133 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit
  • 450 Watt Corsair CS Series Modular 80+ Gold
My idea to upgrade:
  • 32 GB RAM
  • Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB
  • overclock i7 5820K 6x 3.30GHz to ~ 4.2 GHz?
Should i upgrade or wait until september and buy a new one?
Thank You

I kind of doubt you would need more RAM to run the game well. Current games don't require more than 16GB, and I don't expect that to be any different with this title.

Of course, the game isn't out yet, and no official system requirements have even been released, so it's anyone's guess at this point what hardware will be required to run it well. And for all we know, there might even be some new graphics cards out by then.

this is the intial specs. not locked in

I'm pretty sure there have been no "inital specs" released. Those are likely just something some random site made up based on their best guess at what the requirements might be. Their guess is as good as anyone else's, and only the developers will have a good idea of how the game currently runs on various hardware, and even that may change as they optimize it over the next 5 months.

Cyberpunk 2077 will offer raytraced lighting effects too, and it's possible one might want a graphics card with dedicated raytracing hardware to make it look its best. It's hard to say what might be needed for that.

Keep in mind that if you are adding a GPU to your current setup, it does not matter if its a RX 5700X or a RTX 2070 super, or whatever is out there in september, you should also consider to upgrade your 450 Watt Corsair CS Series Modular 80+ Gold.

At least for me it feels really way too close to the edge of not been enough PSU. And thats not even considering your OC idea. Don't get me wrong is a good PSU, but only 450 watts for a 140 watt (at stock settings) CPU + a mid/high range GPU (between +215watts to +240watts) does not sound like the best idea. It gets even worst if youre OC your CPU.

Cheers
