[SOLVED] Upgrade or buy new and use old as streaming pc

Increasing the monitor resolution e.g. from 1080p to 1440p and if you want to play on that resolution, it will put more strain on the GPU than on the CPU.
2070 is the most cost effective for 1440p but if you really want over 1440p 100FPS gaming on most heavy AAA games, you need to look starting 2080.

I5 6600k is still a very good machine for gaming, for most games.
It is still a pity to put it into retirement for now.
What is your main reason to do big upgrade anyway?
In my eyes, an upgrade to RTX2070 should be sufficient.

The difference between 6600k and 8700 is mainly only on the core/thread counts.
For most games, the extra cores/threads do not play a big role.
It is still an upgrade, do not get me wrong. It is just that your money would not be spent effectively.

Moreover, if you picked a Z mainboard, get a k processor :)

if you're getting a Z series chipset, you should look at the K suffix unlocked processor. You can also re-purpose your current rig as a streaming only machine while the system you're looking at can be used primarily for gaming.

So a RTX 2070 would be enough? Should I keep the i5 6600k for now? Will I be able to play AC Odyssey at max 60+FPS?
Also sorry for many questions but will this help with low fps when i watch youtube and play at the same time? A RTX 2070

What good is 60+ FPS if your monitor can only display 60.
but...

AC Odyssey needs quite a lot of horse power. This is among the few, games, which need such power.
  • 6600k is at it's limit mainly because it has only 4 cores without HT. It might struggle a bit to deliver steady 60FPS
  • 2070 for 1440p can run about 60FPS.
