[SOLVED] Upgrade or buy new?

My dad is getting rid of his old pc. Im in need of a pc for rendering software (arnold/vray) and figuring out whether its worth trying to upgrade or just buy a new one

Current Specs:
Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Ram: 8gb
NVIDIA GeForce GT 710
64 bit operating, x64 based processor

You should use CPU-Z to check the motherboard model.

If Google returned the right info, your motherboard supports i7 3.5Ghz CPU, 16GB RAM, USB 3.0... once upgraded it would be an entry-level computer to use for rendering software. That's what the Intel H87 chipset could do at most.
