Upgrade or new build?

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to still be able to play new releases on my 5yr old system, but after downloading the new COD beta I came to realise how much my system struggles to run that game on low-med. settings. I guess the main question is; Am I still able to upgrade my current spec or do I need to build new in order to play any new releases on decent setting. I have not been up to date with pc hardware for a while, so your helps is much appreciated.

My current spec:

HDD: 1TB Western Digital Red WD10EFRX 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive
SSD: 120GB Samsung 840 Series 2.5" SATA 6GB/s (SATA-III) Solid State Drive
MB: MSI Z87-G43 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
GPU: PALIT JetStream GeForce GTX 760 OC 2048MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.40GHz Quad Core Processor
Scythe Ashura Performance CPU Air Cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel
PSU: Cooler Master RS-520-SPM2 Silent Pro M2 520W Power Supply
Windows 8 Pro

If upgrading is still an option I would be able to budget for £300-500

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can still upgrade as the 4690 is not a bad CPU and is still relevant. A decent GPU in the 1070ti to 1080 will make the biggest difference and a huge step up from the GTX 760. As prices seem to be coming down on the 1070ti and 1080, that would be the route I would take. The new GPU can then be a foundation for a new system further down the road for either Ryzen or Intel like the 2600 or 8400...
