I haven't been following the latest things since I built my last computer but I recently noticed that latest games don't really run on my computer anymore.. Far Cry 3 was still good enough. I've got the following setup:

- CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-2500 Sandy Bridge Processor (6M Cache, 3.30 GHz)
- Motherboard: DH67BL(B3) LGA1155 / H67 Chipset / 4 x DDR3
- Graphics: GigabyteATi Radeon HD6850 OC 1GB DDR5 (GV-R685OC-1GD)
- Memory: 8 Gb 1333MHz DDR3

Would upgrading my video card be enough to extend my computer's life a bit more or better to get everything new? I'm a bit on a budget at the moment..

Thanks!

I've got the same CPU (K version) and the same graphics card :p

The 6850 was a really nice budget card back then (I think I got mine for $130) but now I'm sure it's getting dated. The 2500 is still a great CPU.

What's your budget? If you have between $140-200 you have got many nice options. I know that a r9 280 is $189 right now.

Upgrading the video card is the only thing you need. The i5 2500 is one of the best CPUs out there price/performance STILL after all these years. I'm actually considering buying one for its awesome performance. No need to upgrade anything other than the video card... and maybe an ssd.

Thanks! I've already got SSD (the only upgrade I've done over the years) and 500W power. Will definitely look into upgrading the card. My budget is exactly around 150 - 200 USD.
