I have been thinking about upgrading to a 970 or 80 for a little bit now, but I am unsure if it would be worth the money when thinking about if it would work out well with the other components i currently have in the pc. I wasn't quite sure if I did upgrade would it be bottlenecked by something else i have in the pc or not. Thanks for any help you can give.

Processor- AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor
Video Card- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
Memory- 16 GB
Operating System- Microsoft Windows 8.1 (build 9600), 64-bit
Mother Board- ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0

Waste of money, frankly speaking. GTX 770 is still a beast. Only noteworthy upgrade would be the gtx 980/980ti and you have waited for so long, better wait several months more an get Pascal.
FX 8350 owner here.
If you get a GPU that gives better performance than a 770 your CPU will then become a slight bottleneck as it would restrict the card. And then you would be looking at an i5 or something.
My advice is to get an i5, then overclock your 770 while you wait for Pascal :)

If you decide to upgrade to an i5 and want to keep your RAM, I'd look at a i5 4690k as it doesn't require DDR4 like skylake 6th gen chips and it can be overclocked. You won't be disappointed, and you will see a performance increase in nearly every title with sometimes as high as 20-30fps increase!
