Hey guy's i'm really frustrated i'm a streamer on twitch i have the i5 4690k overclocked to 4.6ghz it's usage is basically 100% still runs nice with vsync enabled, I'm thinking of buying the Ryzen 5 1600 which i believe to be a solid cpu also this will upgrade my ram to ddr4 so bonus. I have the option of keeping my current set up and going for the i7 4 core 8 thread cpu but heard this also struggles with obs etc. I'm just after opinions pls and solutions no amd or intel fans pls I'm just after the best solution ohh and i know 2nd gen amd cpu are mean't to be rolling out in april?

Although it has more cores/threads which will no doubt help when Gaming + Streaming, i don't think a Ryzen 5 1600 is a very big upgrade overall and i'd personally suggest going for a Ryzen 7 to get a more worthy upgrade for the money. Like you mentioned, you can also chuck an i7 4790K and keep your current Motherboard + RAM and it should improve your performance by a noticeable amount, but unlikely to a near extent of a Ryzen 7, or even i7 8700K being another sensible choice. Finally, yeah most sites seem to point to a late April - early May release for Ryzen 2 which might be worth holding out for, or Intel 9th gen to follow which i've heard rumours about another big performance jump coming with it to combat Ryzen 2. Hope this helps! :)

P.S - Here is a comparison between the Ryzen 5 1600 and your CPU (at stock speeds), take this benchmark with a grain of salt but it still indicates that overall, it's not much of an upgrade. You gain decent multi-core performance, but lose single and quad core performance. Link > http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1600/2432vs3919

Thanks guys for your reply's much appreciated! I will hold out for these 2nd gen cpu's see what the crack is with them. I'm really happy with in-game performance from the 4690k i love it to bits if it had more threads there would be no change needed! See other i7 cpu would be cool but i'd be staying with ddr3 ram if i went ryzen i would be upgrading ram to ddr4 i think there's + and - to this that's why it's doing my nut in lol i do need more threads, I will do some research in ryzen 5 1600 in games fps etc
