Hey,

I am looking to upgrade my HP Pavilion DV7 2035eg notebook.
At the moment it is running an Intel core duo P8600, mobo HP 3624 (18.51), BIOS F.46 (08/25/2011).
Is it possible to upgrade this CPU to a newer Core 2 Duo/Quad?
I already bought an SSD and and 8GB of RAM, which should be arriving soon. Would the CPU give me a real additional performance boost?
Do you know if the CPU is in a socket or soldered to the mobo? Theres a video on the DV3 in which it seems to be replaceable.
Do Core 2 Quad, for example Q9100 or QX9300 fit in my socket and how can I see if my BIOS supports them?
Would an upgrade to T9900 or X9100 be worth it compared to the P8600 and are they supported by my BIOS?
Do you have any other suggestions?

I hope you can help me out!! Thanks

Well you can upgrade it but given the age of the technology involved it does not seem like a worthwhile investment. Unless you buy used the hardware will be pricey due to scarcity and the performance gained will not be significant. I would look into buying a new all in one computer.

now that cpu is not a solder only chip but HP loves to solder chips in so you will need to see for yourself.

The motherbaord has a PGA 478 socket so all the listed upgrade options would fit

Bios versions will list compatible CPUs so if you can find the bios somewhere then you can read it there

Thanks!
Well, a X9100 would cost $27 for example, a Q9100 $50, both off Aliexpress. The SSD I could use in a future system and the RAM i could possibly sell for a not much lower price due to scarcity (4GB DDR2 800 bricks). So I guess the investment wouldn't be too high, would it?
Concerning the socket, I am unsure about the Core 2 Quad versions, as theres a video (

) saying that the quad core pin layout is different to the dual core ones and you'd have to break off pins? Do you know whether thats true? If so, do you think an upgrade from the P8600 to the X9100 (both dual core) will have any significant performance gain (windows 10, using MS office, Adobe Lightroom)?
As for the BIOS, can I read it out in the code somhow? It seems very difficult to find information on such an old BIOS.
