Question Upgrade path for my CPU Required - Anniversary Gift

Hello all,

My current CPU set-up is

Monitor - Dell 24 inch 1080p monitor @ 64 Hertz
CPU - i5 6600
RAM - 2100 Mhz - 16 GB DDR 4
Mobo - Asus H 170 Pro
GPU - GTX 1060 gb

I am planning to upgrade my CPU and my better half has decided to gift me with an upgrade. The games I play at Monster Hunter World, Heroes of the Storm, Hitman, Tomb Raider, Pub G etc. Please let me know if I should upgrade my CPU or GPU, if so - what would be the idea set-up.

My option 1 - going for intel 8th gen or ryzen 2700
My option 2 - upgrade my GPU to Vega 56 or 64 or GTX 2060 or 2070

Do note, I will only be gaming at 1080p.

I would get a GPU to be able to play new demanding titles on HIGH settings. Getting a new CPU will get you nowhere with GTX1060.

Tell your lady to look for a good deal like the $500 RTX2070
