hello there. Do any of you have a an idea for a good upgrade to from an i3-9100f that would show a good leap in performance?
My current specs are:

i3-9100f,
RX 580 8gb,
16 gb ram,

I can see a my CPU going full load all the time. The graphics card is fine for the moment so i just wanna upgrade the CPU. thanks a lot

Assuming a decent mainboard with quality VRM that would support a 9700K or 9900K and decent pricing on either of those CPUs, a noted increase in fps should be available; certainly 4c/4t architecture of the 7600K/8100F/9100F has been generally increasingly accepted as marginal (at best) for more than 5 years.

One certainly does NOT want to pay more for a 9900K than what would more than fund both a B660/12400, of course, as the latter outperforms the former.

The PSU a Silent Storm SFX 80 plus gold 500 W and the motherboard is a Asus Prime B365M-A,lga 1151

Honestly since you've got a B365 board (B series boards do not allow for overclocking, so no point in getting a K series chip) I would really be looking at the I7 9700 or 9700F, you can pick one up for less than $250 on ebay if you're in the US. An i5 12400f and motherboard, would run you around $320 to $360 depending on your board after tax and shipping, if you're good with the rest of your setup for the next three years (well except the GPU, but theres no fixing that right now), the i7 9700 or 9700F isnt a bad way to go.

Not sure about the less power hungry, as they are both 65w parts.

I'll give you the less power hungry vs the 9700K. I honestly dont know vs the 9700 or 9700F since it has a pretty significant base clock and slight turbo drop and the 9700F disables the UHD graphics, making them both a better tuned 9700. Performance wise on average the 9700 is better vs the 8700, but we're not talking a huge difference here either way. I would honestly be quite content with recommending an 8700 at the right price.

Looking at ebay pricing, the 8700 is a bit cheaper.

A smidge, but its not so cheap that i would unequivocally recommend it over the 9700, the prices are so close that its hard to straight up recommend. Its 180 to 200 for the 8700(f,k) vs $200 to $240 for the 9700(f,k). The pricing overlaps, so the argument that you may as well get 9700 and have better performance on average does exist.
