Okay here we go. Ideally I am looking for a recommendation on whether to just replace the gpu or do a new build. The system was purchased and assembled in late 2020.

Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as possible

Budget Range: $1,500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming predominately RPGs, Simulators/Builders, RTS (cp2077, bg3, coh3, anno series, human, hitman, sniper elites, wh40k rogue trader, mass effect, etc), Roll20 and watching various entertainment

Are you buying a monitor: No, I have a msi 271cqr monitor

Parts to Upgrade: GPU or near new build (ideally salvaging what I can, such as case, fans)

Do you need to buy OS: Not sure

Preferred Website(s) for parts: No preference, been looking at Micro Center but not tied to them. I'm not familiar with US go-tos.

Location: Houston, Texas, US.

Parts Preferences: MSI if upgrading GPU only, otherwise preference to MSI or ASUS. Open to suggestions (Intel cpu if rebuild is advised).

Overclocking: No interest in doing it myself

SLI or Crossfire:  Maybe

Your Monitor resolution: 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 I believe

Additional Comments: No requirements

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Playing Baldur's Gate 3, game crashed and desktop half crashed, eventually turned off at tower. Upon turning back on recieve 'no signal' message at monitor. Tried two other cables with no change. Tried to completely turn off and unplug, no change upon plugging back in.

I am assuming the gpu has failed.

Current Specs:
Intel i7 10700 CPU
Msi mpg z490 gaming plus MB
Corsair vengeance pro 32GB 3200mhz ram
Msi rtx 2080 super 8gb GPU
Lian li Galahad aio 360 liquid cooler
Corsair LL120 3fan kit

Corsair tx850 gold psu

Remove the video card and plug the monitor into the motherboard and see if it works. If that works I would not go straight for a new video card, use a old card and try it or borrow a friends and try it.

Remove and reinstall the video card remove and reinstall the power cables to the card on both the card and power supply

My 2080 still runs everything fine at 1440p it would be a shame if it was a motherboard issue and you spent all that money on a new card for nothing.

This is what a $1500 upgrade could look like.

I disconnected the gpu entirely and tried plugging moniter into the motherboard. No change. Still no signal. Reassembled with the a disconnect and reconnect of cables. Tried again with no signal. I don't have an old card and am unable to borrow one.

I suggest figuring out what is wrong first before deciding on getting a new PC or upgrade. It could be something simple and save you 1500 dollars for an upgrade with even better parts in the future. You may want to make another forums post in the systems section about your specific problem and all the contextual information needed to figure out the issue.
