Hi All,

I was wondering what you guys would upgrade from the rig below in order to run BF4 better (1080p ultra?). I currently play at 1080p medium - get anywhere from 40-60 fps. I assume that if I upgrade my graphics card I'll need to upgrade my CPU as well. I'm wondering what I can achieve for (ideally under) $500.

Here's the specs:
Monitor: Asus ML228H 21.5" 1080p
PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W
MB: Asus M5A97 AM3+ 970
CPU: FX-4100 (oc'd to 4.2Ghz)
RAM: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600
GFX: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB (oc'ed 950/1150)
Case: Raidmax Blackstorm ATX-615WU

Thanks!

Yes, the 280x is now looking expensive, luckily the slightly faster GTX770 is still available for under $350 (I'm assuming US Dollars BTW). This means that if you go for the top end of your budget you can get the FX8350 and a GTX770.
There's no need to change the power supply, the OCZ installed will run the upgraded system just fine.
Check the motherboard BIOS version before installing a new CPU, though, you may need to update it.
sorry i didn't clarify - that's my current rig. I'm wondering what I should upgrade to run BF4 better, and if it'd be possible to play the game on 1080p ultra with $500 worth of upgrades

i was thinking something similar - fx8350 and a graphics card for 300$.... that said, the r9 280x's aren't really 300$ nowadays because of the bitminers or whatever they're called. Any similar cards ~$300?

Do you think I'd need the larger psu with an 8350 and a similar graphics card?
